Gold to Golubeva

by wmsg-draughts on October 12, 2008

Zoja Golubeva from Latvia has beaten the Dutch Tanja Chub in the fifth tie-break game, and thereby claimed the gold in the women’s tournament of the first World Mind Sports Games. In an interesting classical game, she managed to again put the pressure on Chub. The Dutch national champion collapsed: Golubeva was able to attain a breaktrough to king for one piece. This meant the end of a long tie-break session, in which the ninefold world champion showed she is back on top.

The prize-giving ceremony will follow soon. Expect us to show you the atmosphere a few minutes after it has finished!
